Or maybe you find yourself ‘finishing your plate’ because you were programmed from an early age to do so by your well meaning mother or father.
Diets don’t deal with emotional issues.. Ie comfort & protection
It is possible that a single incident in your past could be the cause for you wanting to seek comfort in food. Many ‘emotional eaters’ are eating for reasons of comfort or protection. When a child is hurt or upset they are given sweets to make them feel better. Children are given sweets as a ‘reward’ for good behaviour or as a treat. There is a lot of emotional satisfaction in the process of eating which we strive to recreate as adults. Another emotional reason to eat is for ‘protection.’ If someone had a specifically traumatic event happen in childhood such as abuse for example then it serves a purpose on a subconscious level for that person to put on the weight to act as a barrier to the outside world to protect them from whatever harmed them in their past. Whilst the subconscious continues to be stuck in protection mode you have deep rooted emotional blocks or barriers to losing weight and all diets will fail.
Your self image may be incompatible with the body you would like to have.
What you focus on you will achieve. If you see yourself as someone who is overweight and has to struggle to keep it off, then that is all you will ever be. You were not born with a weight problem you acquired it over the years. Seeing is believing, and the same can be said for dieting. If you cannot see yourself as a slim person on a subconscious level, you won’t achieve it. You need to be able to gain acceptance in your subconscious mind before you will be ale to achieve your desired goal.
